Scott Attends Shad Planking

Wakefield, Va. — Rep. Bobby Scott attended the 66th Annual Shad Planking on April 16.  Shad Planking is a unique event that traces its origin to the early 1930s when a group of friends gathered together at Wrenn’s Mill in Isle Of Wight County during the spring running of the shad in the James River.

This year’s event featured a keynote speech by Sen. Mark Warner.

In The Washington Post: Rep. Robert C. “Bobby” Scott (D) has been to the planking 15 times. It’s a chance to meet state officials, politicians, lobbyists and old friends. “It was a different event 50 years ago,” Scott said. “Virginia has changed. It’s a very diverse group of people. It’s just grown with the times.”
